Artist's statement

The work I have been developing for the past five years comes from the practice and reflection around figurative painting. Firstly, I focused my research in materials and formal aspects: the expressive potential of the brushstrokes, the gestural aspect of painting. Afterwards, I started to build my own models for painting (figurines and scenarios made out of wire, maskingtape, cardboard, paper, etc.). This lead me to extend these pictorial properties to other areas of the visual media, such as sculpture and photography. With this, I have found recurrent elements in my artistic production: precariousness, handcraft, and thematically, a thin bond between violence, black humor and melancholy.
